Mrs. Margie Bell, of Granbury, Texas passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022, with her husband, Boe, and her son, Jeff, by her side. Margie was 83 years old and had endured a long battle with dementia.
Margie was born Letha Margaret Smith on June 14, 1938, in Boyd, Texas where she was raised on the family farm by her father, David Milford Smith, and mother, Letha Margaret Smith (Reed). Margie was the youngest of six sisters, Viola Wilson, Ruby Vincent, Ester Belle Tackett, Lizzie Clark, and Eva May Burgess.
In December 1955, Margie met the love of her life, Robert (Boe) Bell and they married six months later June 22, 1956. Margie and Boe were a dynamic duo and true partners in life as they raised their two children, Vivian and Jeff. They lived in Bedford, Texas where they worked hard to provide for their family, and enjoyed camping at Lake Grapevine with Vivian, Jeff, and many friends.
Along the way, Margie and Boe welcomed 5 Grandchildren, James, Cristy, Misty, Amber, and April to their loving family. Margie retired from the Bedford Police Department in 2000 and she and Boe moved to Granbury, Texas where Margie loved to be outside tending to her flower beds and gardens.
The only heartache in their wonderful life together came as their daughter Vivian fought ovarian cancer and passed away in January 2011. Vivian’s husband, Wylie, has remained a faithful member of the family and continues to host family holiday gatherings in honor of Vivian.
Margie’s family has expanded to include 8 Great-Grandchildren Christian, Madison, Abigail, Lucas, Livia, Liam, Owen, and Miles. In May 2021, Margie and Boe welcomed their first Great-Great-Grandson, Leon. At Thanksgiving and Christmas, Margie was blessed to enjoy the company and love of 5 generations of her family. For Margie, there was no better gift than to spend time with family and friends.
While we will miss her terribly, we are thankful for a life well lived and comforted by the knowledge she is at peace in Heaven with Vivian watching over us all.
We welcome all friends and family to join us to share memories and recollections as we celebrate Margie’s wonderful life. It was Margie’s wish that we gather to celebrate her in a relaxed manner to match her free spirit and love of life. As such, the attire and attitude for the visitation, a celebration of life service, and entombment will be casual.
