Marie Spriggs Brown, just four days shy of her 91st birthday, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus on June 24, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Marie was born in Meadowview, Virginia, on June 28, 1933, to Marvin Ward and Julia Wilder Spriggs. She moved with her family to Oakvale, West Virginia, where at age 6, she met Jack Walton Brown, to whom she was married from May 1954 until his death in February 2010. Jack and Marie moved to Texas in 1956, eventually settling in Haltom City, where they raised their three children. Marie was a faithful helpmate to Jack, assisting him in running his accounting practice while taking care of all things at home. Marie devoted herself to teaching Sunday School to second graders for 20 years, attending and leading Bible studies, cooking holiday meals for family and friends, maintaining her beautiful yard, and traveling the world with Jack and their closest friends. Following Jack’s death, Marie moved to North Richland Hills for 3 years and in 2017, moved to Dallas to be closer to her daughter Cheryl. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brown; daughter, Ann Brown; and an infant son. She is survived by her son Warren Brown (Faith), daughter Cheryl Hill; grandchildren Perry Shaw (Kandi), Jennifer Brownlee (Vance), Wyatt Hill, and Brady Hill, as well as 4 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, her sister Zona Stewart, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks and gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the Plaza at Edgemere in Dallas for their loving care of Marie during the final 5 years of her life.
