

Marilyn Cummins of Bedford, Texas passed away late Saturday evening, September 27, 2014 at 64 years of age from an aneurysm. She was born November 12, 1949 to Emmett and Wanda Guffey in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was raised in Wichita Falls and was a proud graduate of Wichita Falls High School Class of 1967 where she sang in the choir and starred in the senior class play Oklahoma. After attending Abilene Christian University she went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Midwestern State University.
Marilyn was a loving mother and wife, truly dedicated to living her life for Christ, and she cherished her time with family and friends. Marilyn adored having “special time with Grammy” with her granddaughters, which often included going out for breakfast and shopping trips. Her enthusiastic support for her sons led her on many adventures including commercial flights piloted by her son, road trips throughout Eastern Europe and cross-cultural experiences. Her legacy is one of incredible faith and love.
Marilyn spent more than 25 years dedicated to developing children through elementary education in the Keller, Irving and HEB school districts. Upon retirement, she continued her passionate contributions to education through substitute teaching.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ken Cummins; sons, John Cummins and his wife Jennifer and children Chloe and Sydney of Austin, Jeff Cummins of Bedford, David Cummins and his wife Echo of Singapore. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Guffey, and his wife Nancy of North Richland Hills and their son, Matt of Denton.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Colleyville. Funeral service will be Thursday 10:00am at Bluebonnet Hills with Cliff Crumpler officiating. Burial will follow at Bluebonnet Hills. The family expresses thanks and gratitude to all the friends too numerous to list who have been keeping Marilyn and the family in their prayers. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, Colleyville, Texas.
