Martin (Marty) Albert Poslick was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 22, 1930, to Albert and Katherine Poslick. After graduating from East High School, he enlisted in the Navy. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Engineman 2nd class in 1952. He then enlisted in the Air Force, becoming a pilot, and retired as a Major after 20 years of combined military service. While in the Air Force, he flew over 8,000 flight hours and served in both the Korean War and Vietnam War. He logged over one hundred combat missions and earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star Medal.
After retirement, the family moved five times in two years in pursuit of new flying opportunities. It was the position of the chief pilot for Ward International (who chartered aircraft to exclusive clients and celebrities) that brought them to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. As a chief pilot, he had the pleasure of working with The Allman Brothers Band, Aerosmith, and Elvis Presley.
In 1976, he and his wife started their own business, Metro Parts, Inc, selling aircraft parts. This was operated out of their garage and dining room table. The business grew to where it required his full-time attention, and he had to quit being a pilot. It was truly a family business, eventually employing his two children, and occasionally his grandchildren. Marty retired from Metro Parts in 2020, and his son is now the owner as the business continues.
Marty and his wife traveled all over the United States and Europe by car, bus, plane, and boat. He loved to play craps, and they visited Las Vegas several times a year. They also enjoyed horse racing, and for a while were owners, along with a group of friends, in a company called Sloof (Fools spelled backward) Stables that trained racehorses. In his later years, he became an avid reader of crime novels. He was once told he had a mellifluous voice, and he had an infectious laugh. Marty would start telling a joke or story, and he would laugh so hard before even getting to the funny part that he would be crying, and his laughing had everyone else laughing.
Marty Poslick was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mildred Hardwick. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Poslick, his two children, and their spouses, Dawne and Tom Reinhardt and Craig and Karyn Poslick. He is also survived by his five granddaughters and their husbands, Michele and Ray King, Christi, and Chris McFarland, Samantha Poslick, Sawyer and Thomas Carlson, and Morgan and Andrew Reinhardt and his five great-grandchildren, B, Molly, and Zoey King, and Christian and Keller McFarland.
