Mary Glover was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Mary will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was the daughter of Paul and Evelyn Jackson.
Mary was raised with five siblings. She had three sisters; Dot, Linda, and Glenda, and two brothers; Roy and Paul. Mary was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Mary enjoyed her college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Mary was able to manage the balancing act. Mary graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1955.
On June 15, 1956 Mary exchanged wedding vows with Bill Glover. They resided in Cushing, Oklahoma where Bill completed his college education at Oklahoma State University. In 1959 the couple moved to Hobbs.
Mary worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Mary was blessed with two children, Kim and David. Another blessing for Mary was the gift of five grandchildren, Madelyn, Kayla, Brooklyn, Garrett, and Austin.
Fortunately, Mary enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Mary worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was being an excellent teacher, employed by Houston Junior High and Hobbs High School until becoming a homemaker in 1962. Mary always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Mary enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were spending time and serving alongside her best friend and husband of 45 years. She was actively involved with Jefferson Street Church of Christ, faithfully serving as an elder’s wife for over 25 years and dedicating her time and energy to the spiritual needs of others. As a beautiful, Spirit led follower of Jesus, she leaves a legacy as a wonderful wife, mother, grand-mom, friend and teacher. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
