Michael Brigham, 56, of Colleyville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at a local hospital. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to all that knew and loved him.
He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 12, 1961 to David Ray and Evelyn Quinn Brigham. He grew up in Alexandria, Virginia; and attended college at Virginia Tech. He met his wife Kathy on the Tech campus on the first day of college, and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry in 1983. He also completed a Master Degree in Business Administration at the College of William & Mary in 1992.
Mike and Kathy were married in 1987. As Mike grew professionally in the following years, the family lived in 8 different states, making many friends along the way.
Mike especially loved seeing new places and traveled extensively throughout the world both personally and professionally. Family was most important to Mike, and one of his favorite traditions was spending time in Holden Beach, North Carolina, with his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. He was the “fun” Dad and Uncle; first on the beach in the morning pitching a canopy to shelter the kids in the heat of the day, and taking the kids out for a late-day swim at 8 p.m. Mike loved organizing day trips to surprise and delight his family; and they enjoyed hiking in Colorado, lake trips in Michigan, and tours of historic sites in Virginia and New York.
Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Brigham of Colleyville, Texas; son Michael Brigham and daughter Laura Brigham. He is also mourned by his parents, and brothers and sisters: Scott and Kathryn P. Brigham of Colleyville Texas; Deborah Brigham of Bristow, Virginia; Richard and Lisa Brigham of Alice Springs, Australia; Jennifer and Daniel Hayes of Shepherdstown, West Virginia; and Pamela and Chris Burgess of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is also mourned by many nieces and nephews, who remember him as a kind and loving uncle.
A Memorial Service will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
