He was born in Fort Worth, TX on July 29, 1951. Mike graduated with a bachelor's degree from Northwood University. He was married to Kathy Williams on November 18, 1972 and they were able to celebrate their 50th Anniversary this past November.
Mike viewed his life in chapters. Chapter one was his military upbringing and then service in the Navy of 20 years, which followed his passion for aviation. The second chapter followed his passion for computers and his career as a Computer Systems Engineer for Lockheed Martin. The last chapter was all about being a devoted Paw-Paw to his grandson, Timothy, even taking an early retirement to do so.
Mike also had a passion for hobbies, from 3D printing to trains and miniatures. He enjoyed collecting figurines of wolves and his beloved dog breed, the German Shepherd. Mike had a loyal German Shepherd beside him throughout his entire life. His only female shepherd, Miss Riley Mae, was affectionately called “Paw-Paw’s Princess.”
He is survived by his wife Kathy Williams, daughter Brenda Sihotang, grandson Timothy Sihotang, brother & sister-in-law Douglas & Lorna Sherwood, brother Brian Sherwood, stepfather Howard Sherwood, aunt Christine Latham, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 2 pm on June 10, 2023, at Bluebonnet Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mike’s honor to the Humane Society of North Texas, www.hsnt.org.
