

Michael Adrian Yates was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Michael will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Hazel and Adrian Yates.
Michael was raised with one brother, Billy. They shared many life experiences over the years.
Michael enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Michael was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his Pepperdine University, Harding University, New Mexico State, and culminating in a degree in history at Sul Ross University.
Empathic and loyal, Michael was committed to making his new family happy.
Michael worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Michael was blessed with one daughter, Carolyn and one son, Sean. Another blessing for Michael was the gift of five grandchildren, Kieran, Ansleigh, Selah, Andrew, Hannah.
Fortunately, Michael enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Michael worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. Mike worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Health and Human Services in Atlanta. Michael always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
When Michael’s retirement finally arrived in 1996, he was well prepared. Even in retirement, Michael continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Michael was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
Michael enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Upon retiring, Mike began taking advantage of the time by improving his golf game, moving to Texas to be nearer to his children, and embarking upon his newest passion, teaching others English using the Bible. He taught English both here at home and abroad for just over a decade until his wife’s passing and a decline in his own health made traveling more difficult. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Michael passed away on May 27, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. Left to cherish Michael’s memory are his daughter, Carolyn Nicolalde and her husband, Gustavo; son, Sean Yates and his wife, Astreia; Grandchildren, Kieran Yates, AnsLeigh Yates, Selah Yates, Andrew Nicolalde, and Hannah Nicolalde; his family at heart, Matilda and Kofi Amonoo, and their children, Michael Yates and Emmanuel Yates, and numerous cousins, extended family members and friends. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Michael was laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Mike was a loving and caring husband, father and friend, and leaves behind beautiful memories of times with his family. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Michael Adrian Yates.

Mr. Michael Adrian Yates passed away peacefully on May 27, 2016. He was 76 years of age. Michael, or Mike, as he was lovingly known by family and friends, was born in Berkeley, California on February 23, 1940, to parents Hazel and Adrian Yates. After high school, Mike continued his education at Pepperdine University, Harding University, New Mexico State, and culminating in a degree in history at Sul Ross University.
Mike spent some time during these same years traveling with his mother across the country before settling down and marrying his wife, Carol, in 1967.
In the years following, Mike worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Health and Human Services in Atlanta. He had 2 children, Carolyn and Sean, and enjoyed his family and his church. He worked on improving his golf score in his spare time and continued with the same job before retiring in 1996.
