Born Modena Avant on June 17, 1935, in Ada, Oklahoma, she was the cherished daughter of John and Lodema Avant. From her earliest days, Modena embodied warmth and compassion—qualities that would define her throughout her life.
She married Howard D. Green, the love of her life. Their bond was deep and enduring; after his passing, Modena remained steadfast in her devotion to him and never remarried. Together they built a family rooted in love and faith.
Modena was a woman of unwavering faith who attended church every Sunday and Wednesday. Her devotion to God was evident in every aspect of her life—from her commitment to Bible study to the kindness she extended to everyone around her. She found joy in simple pleasures: reading lengthy novels that transported her to other worlds, sewing with care and creativity, and spending time with family during holidays and everyday moments alike. Her phone calls with loved ones were treasured connections that kept hearts close across distances.
She is survived by her loving daughter Karen Brite and son-in-law Richard Brite from Keller, Texas. Her two sisters, Maxine McMurry from Crowley, Texas; and Carol Blackwell from Salado, Texas. She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who loved her dearly and will carry forward the legacy of her love.
Modena was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lodema Avant; her brother, Carl W. Avant; her husband, Howard D. Green; and her son, Glen D. Green.
Her gentle spirit, fierce love for family and God, and enduring strength will be remembered always. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Funeral will be held on February 17, 2026, from 01:30 PM to 02:15 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home located at 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas.
