

Norman was born on December 14, 1924 in Manila, Philippines. He was the son of Julius and Katherine Dula. As a child Norman lived in Hawaii and spent most of his youth in Houston, Texas.
Norman was raised with one sister, Helen and two brothers, Mason and Alfred. Norman was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings shared many life experiences over the years Norman graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1942.
Norman graduated from the University of Houston in 1951 where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Business Administration.
Norman exchanged wedding vows with Norman married Jean in 1948 in Houston, Texas. They were happily married for 69 years.
Norman worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Norman was blessed with three sons, Norman, Dan, and Doug. Another blessing for Norman was the gift of five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, Mike, Luke, and Kennedy; great-grandchildren Addy, Ellis, Ethan, Liam, Clair, Rowan, Mia, and Connor.
Fortunately, Norman enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Norman worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. Norman began working for Amicable Life Insurance as a Manager in Waco, Texas where he worked for 20 years. In 1970 he took a position with Jefferson Pilot in Greensboro, North Carolina. Norman was a certified Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) as well as a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®).
In 1944 he joined the United States Army Air Corp. And served for 3 years and then again in the United States Air Force from 1951-1953. He served in WWII and again in Korea as flight instructor for P-51 Mustangs and B-17 Flying Fortresses. He was discharged in 1953, achieving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
In 1991 he returned to a home his son Dan built in Texas. His retirement years were filled with golf, reading, boating, watching sports, and participating in all the social activities in Lakeway, TX. He passed the time tinkering on his 1961 Classic Jag. He loved the 4th of July parade and chauffeured the town’s mayor in his Jag for several years.
Norman Lee Dula Sr. 92, a member of “The Greatest Generation” passed away on January 28, 2017. Norman is survived by his wife, Jean Dula; sons, Norman Jr. (Joanne) Dula, Dan (Kristi) Dula, Doug (Sherry) Dula; grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Haynes, Jennifer (Rudy) Macdonel, Mike (Kate) Dula, Luke Dula and Kennedy Dula; great-grandchildren Addy, Ellis, Ethan, Liam, Clair, Rowan, Mia, and Connor.
Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. Norman was laid to rest in DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Norman was an individual who will be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Norman leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Norman Lee Dula, Sr.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Katherine Dula, siblings Mason Dula, Helen Webster, and Alfred Dula. Survivors: Norman is survived by his wife, Jean Dula; sons, Norman Jr. (Joanne) Dula, Dan (Kristi) Dula, Doug (Sherry) Dula; grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Haynes, Jennifer (Rudy) Macdonel, Mike (Kate) Dula, Luke Dula and Kennedy Dula; great-grandchildren Addy, Ellis, Ethan, Liam, Clair, Rowan, Mia, and Connor. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of North Texas.
