

Paul was born December 29, 1955 at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio to John D. (Jack) and Donna M. Michaels. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he graduated with a degree in Aero-Space Engineering. While in college he had Astronaut Neil Armstrong as a professor and also did co-op work at NASA during that time. Paul joined the Air Force and was a fighter pilot of the F111 and after 8 years of military service with the rank of Captain he left the military and was employed by American Airlines. During his 25 years as a pilot for American Airlines he served as Captain on the Fokker F100 and Airbus.
Paul enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and was very passionate about The Ohio State University where he was a devoted Buckeye fan. In fact he attended the National Championship College Football game against the Oregon Ducks where the Buckeyes won in January 2015 here at Cowboy Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Betty Michaels, children Heidi and Kyle Michaels, step-daughter and husband Kristen and Gary Harper, step-grandson Owen Harper, sister Rita Michaels, former wife Laura Michaels, and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents John D. (Jack) and Donna Michaels and brothers Charlie Michaels and John Michaels.
