Raymond Jolissant of Bedford, TX transitioned to his eternal heavenly home on July 2, 2024, at the age of 81 years old. Ray was born to the late Nelson P. Jolissant Sr. and Emma T. Jolissant. He lived various places throughout his life including the Panama Canal Zone, Florida, California, Michigan, and Texas. He married Topsy in January 1965. He graduated from University of Texas at Arlington in 1966 with a BS in Mathematics. Following college, he served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, then continued his career in various computer related jobs until he retired.
Ray is survived by his wife Topsy Jolissant; his daughters Dena Jolissant and Jody Gibson and her husband Craig Gibson; his brothers Nelson Jolissant Jr and Greg Jolissant; his grandchildren Alan Gibson and Samantha Gibson; along with other in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his daughter, Christi Jolissant; parents, Nelson Sr. and Emma Jolissant; sisters, Charlene and Darlene; and other extended family.
Ray loved to joke around, have fun, smile, and make people laugh! He was the king of goofy dad jokes! He made friends wherever he went, and he loved to help others. He was excited to make anyone’s life a little easier and a little more enjoyable whenever he could, and he made everyone feel seen and important, no matter who they were. His hobbies included fishing out on the lake (his favorite!), bowling, watching football and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, traveling and vacationing with Topsy, and getting together with friends. He was an intelligent, devoted, Christian man that took pride in his family, his job, and his church. He volunteered many years at his church teaching and helping in the youth department…he was definitely young at heart! His motto was “ya think young… ya be young!” He also served as a deacon at his church for several years. Ray was very proud of his family. He and Topsy went on many fun trips and cruised all over the world! They were married for 59.5 years! Talk about devoted! And he would tell anyone that would listen how proud he was of Dena and Jody and all of their life accomplishments! He was very excited when the grandkids, Alan and Samantha, were born! When they were little, he loved wrestling with them on the floor, pushing them on the swings, and playing games with them. As they grew older, he loved spending time with them doing whatever they wanted to do. They always had a smile on their faces when they were with Grandpa, and so did he!
Ray/Dad/Grandpa - May you rest in peace knowing you were a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a good and faithful servant. You made an impression on so many hearts and touched so many lives. There is no doubt we will see you again in God’s time. Until then, we will cherish the memories and love you forever! ❤️
