Robin was born on February 6, 1965, in Portsmouth, Virginia. She arrived into the world with a twinkle in her eye and a spirit that drew people toward her throughout her life. She graduated from Douglas Freeman High School in Richmond and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Radford University in 1987. That twinkle and spirit is still drawing her loved ones, friends, and classmates together today.
Above all else, Robin was a devoted and loving mother. She is survived by her beloved children, Tristan Bulatao and Connor Bulatao, the heart of her world; everything she did was rooted in her love for them. She is also survived by her mother, Ann Prince; niece Dana Huber and nephew Camden Huber; a wide circle of dear and lifelong friends who became chosen family over the years; and communities whose lives were made brighter by knowing her. She was preceded in death by her father, Randall Borges and her sister, Renee Borges Huber.
Robin had a remarkable ability to bring people together. She built a successful career doing exactly that –she worked in hospitality and event planning for many years, becoming a sought-after corporate event planner. One of her proudest moments was serving as a key member of the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay event operations team, helping guide the torch and it’s more than 12,0000 bearers over 1,300 miles across the U.S., even carrying the torch herself. In addition, Robin was a certified etiquette consultant.
Robin lived with energy, creativity, and a deep generous spirit. She loved fitness and working out. (In training for her upcoming Spartan race, she had just mastered the monkey bars and unassisted pull ups.) Many of her closest friendships grew out of group fitness classes where she embraced every opportunity to encourage and uplift those around her.
Giving back was second nature to her, and she generously volunteered her time through organizations such as Young Men’s Service League, serving alongside her children and reinforcing her lifelong commitment to giving back. For Christ’s Haven for Children, she spearheaded an effort to clean up and enhance outdoor spaces and build a pergola for displaced children, teens, and young adults. She continued to volunteer there after the project was completed.
Robin loved travel and the beach, and nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with family at Hilton Head Island, an annual pilgrimage filled with laughter, sunshine, and the simple happiness of having her toes in the sand while surrounded by the people she loved most. These moments created the memories her children and loved ones will carry forever.
Robin’s laughter was contagious, her kindness instinctive, and her ability to make others feel loved, seen, and valued was one of her greatest gifts. She was generous with letters, cards, gifts, her time, and her love. She loved all animals, especially her dogs Auggie and Bella (she always had two). Robin was a fashionista and had an amazing sense of style.
She lived with an open heart, celebrating life’s moments both large and small, and leaving an enduring imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on through the love she gave, the friendships she nurtured, and the strength and compassion she instilled in her children.
A Celebration of Robin’s life will be held at 10:30am on March 8 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Boulevard, Colleyville, Texas where her family will gather with friends to honor her memory and celebrate a life deeply loved.
