Rose Charlene Sexton

Charlene as she preferred to be called was born on August 16, 1929, in Electra, Texas to Mary Shaeffer Crawford and Lester Joshua Crawford. She married Donald Sexton on March 26, 1950, and had three children, two daughters Sherry Sexton Eckelkamp, and Jill Sexton Rawls, and one son Alan Josh Sexton.

Charlene moved from Electra to Wichita Falls in 1983 where she began working at Sheppard Air Force Base as a civilian in Personnel until her retirement. She continued to live in Wichita Falls until she moved to North Richland Hills in May 2020.

She was passionate about volunteering; for many years she delivered for Meals on Wheels and assisted at Whispers of Hope Horse Farm. Her greatest love was sewing and creating beautiful quilts for friends and family. She was a member of the Quilting Club at the Zone which donates quilts to Wichita Falls organizations. Over the years she had many hobbies. She was an avid reader and always had a book and later an iPad. She loved long walks daily and bird watching.

She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Charlene was was preceded in death by Mary Crawford, Lester Crawford, Josh Crawford, Elaine Crawford Boatright, Joshua Sexton.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Eckelkamp, Jill Rawls, Alan Sexton, five grandchildren, Tara Hackney, Evan Eckelkamp, Deidra Vaughn, Somer Sexton, Shaeffer Smolko, ten great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra, TX with Rev. Bob Lee, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Electra officiating. Interment will follow in New Electra Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
