Sally A. (Rinaman) Starr died on March 19, 2018 after a 21 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim D. Starr; her daughter Julie A. Starr; her son Bret W. Starr and his wife Beverly E. Starr; and her grand-daughter Rebecca L. Starr.
Sally was born on April 15, 1938 in Dallas, Texas and was the only child of William A. Rinaman and Ella Mae (Luna) Rinaman. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and went on to earn a degree in education from North Texas State University in 1960. She was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Sally taught first grade at William L. Cabell elementary school in Dallas for eight years before leaving to raise her family. She was an active member of the Parent-Teacher Associations in her children’s schools. She was a life-long dog lover, and considered her dogs as part of her family.
Memorial Services will be held at St. Philip Presbyterian Church (745 W. Pipeline Rd. Hurst, TX) on Sunday March 25 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, The American Parkinson’s Disease Association, or St. Philip Presbyterian Church.
