Shirley A. Wood

She was born in Peoria, IL, on April 3, 1928, daughter of Joseph Nelson Tipton and Silvia Tipton.

Shirley graduated from Varna High School in 1946 and attended Illinois State University.

She married Lewis Oscar Wood on July 17, 1949

Shirley was an Admin Assistant at International Mineral & Chemical Corp. and a Real Estate Agent with Gerald Irby / ERA Real Estate (retired in 1978).

She was a member of the Eastern Star, active in: Trinity Art Guild (treasurer), Johnny High’s Country Music Review, and had a passion for travel and art. She was also a Texas Rangers baseball fan

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis (2/12/2014), brothers William Roy Tipton (Bill), Luellen Tipton (Tip), John Tipton, and sister Ruth Hannibell Murphy.

She is survived by her nephews Jim Tipton (Susan), Fred Herridge (Madeline), Ron Herridge (Sue), Beverly (Herridge) Creason (Dean), Sandra (Herridge) Naseef (George), and Charlene (Herridge) Ybarra (Pablo), numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces & nephews.

A viewing for Shirley will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034, followed by a committal from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
