Timothy Clay Givens was born June 5, 1941 and returned to the Lord, May 15, 2026. He fought an approximately 5-year battle against Lewy Body Dementia.
Tim was born to Harold and Ella Grace Parker in Oklahoma but was adopted early in his life as an infant by George and Nancy Givens who raised him as a beloved son in the Arlington Heights area of Fort Worth. He resided in the Watauga area for over 40 years and spent his last 5 in the care of the good people of Glenview Wellness and Rehab in Richland Hills.
Tim spent some time in the US Air Force where he received an Honorable Discharge after an injury and he even ran a small “grocery” store for a time called Tim’s Grocery. He met the love of his life Mary Givens (Reeves) at the Lone Star Drive-In in Fort Worth, Texas. They married on March 19, 1965 and celebrated 58 years of marriage before she passed in 2023. They moved to the Arlington Heights Area and then to Haltom City where they began their family with the births of their two sons, Scott and then Toby. They finally settled in Watauga where their family grew into adulthood with many cherished memories of the area.
His sons were the pride of his life and he and Mary attended ALL of their sporting and school events. He helped coach several teams and is well known for his detailed stat keeping for each game which are cherished by his boys to this day.He also operated a side hobby of repairing existing and breaking in new baseball gloves. “The Broken Glove” was the savior of many a Watauga area little leaguer. Speaking of hobbies, he enjoyed many including but not limited to comic book collecting, coin and currency collecting, reading and watching any and all Sci fi and fantasy he could get his hands on, he also tried his hand at writing some sci-fi and fantasy fiction. He was a committed member of the congregation of First Baptist Church of Watauga where he spent many years with his family. He worked for Birdville ISD and Hurst Euless Bedford ISD for over 20 years between the two districts.
His last several years his mind slowly deteriorated due to his diagnosis but nonetheless his family has several fond memories of visits where he was lucid enough to remind us of the caring, outgoing, fun-loving man they knew and loved.
Later in life he was able to confirm his heritage as a member of the Chickasaw Nation, and he participated in tribal events and was named “Crazy Wolf” in a decree from the tribe. His boys and their families share his immense pride of being Chickasaw.
