Dale was born on May 10, 1946, in Bridgeport, Texas as one of eleven children to James and Mary Van Hoose. He graduated from Bridgeport High School before starting his career in the Airforce as a Weather Radar Technician and completed a tour in Vietnam. He met the love of his life on a blind date that his cousin, Sam, setup. He always said the first time he laid eyes on LaQuita, he knew he was going to marry her. They married on February 18th, 1967 in Bridgeport, Texas, and had 2 sons, Kevin and Jeremy. They celebrated 53 years of marriage this year.
After 4 years of military service, he began a long career in the defense and aviation field in many capacities, as an Aerospace Engineer, a Simulator Technician Specialist, and a Hardware/Software Engineer working at General Dynamics and later at Eurocopter.
Above all else, Dale defined himself as a Christian and had always been active in church serving in numerous roles and capacities. After retirement from the defense and aviation field in December of 2014, Dale pursued a lifelong call to formal ministry, attending Bible school with Global University to become an ordained pastor. At the time of his death, he served as Associate Pastor at LIFE Church of North Richland Hills, Texas.
When he was younger, Dale enjoyed hunting, going to rodeos and gun shows, and eventually picked up golfing, 4 wheeling, and building with computers. More recently he enjoyed smoking meats as a hobby and sitting on his back porch when he wasn’t on the go. He was a people person and his true passion was helping and loving people. Dale was known by all as a kind man, one who was eager to lend a hand with anything and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. A humble man who would never boast unless it was about his lovely wife, sons, or grandchildren. He had a heart as big as Texas. Whatever he did, he did with all his heart. Only Heaven knows how many people Dale has helped in tangible ways and encouraged with his words of counsel and wisdom. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew him.
Dale’s life will forever be cherished by his wife LaQuita and son Jeremy Van Hoose and his wife Janet of Bristol, Texas; two grandchildren, Sierra Wilson and husband Andrew Wilson of Bristol, Texas, and Carl Wyatt Amundson (Van Hoose) of Bristol, Texas; four brothers, Bill Van Hoose and wife Darlene of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jerry Van Hoose and wife Norma of Runaway Bay, Texas; Travis Van Hoose and wife Betty of Bridgeport, Texas; Tommy Van Hoose and wife Kim of Runaway Bay, Texas. Dale will also be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, and dear friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, James William Van Hoose and Mary Alice (Nabors) Van Hoose; son Kevin Van Hoose; sisters, Patsy Van Hoose, Sherry Van Hoose, Jackie Newby, and Janie Lindsey; brothers, Larry Van Hoose and James Van Hoose and niece Sherry Lopez.
