William J. Makins, born Oct. 10, 1924 in Austin, TX entered into eternal rest on Sept. 4, 2014. Bill served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and in the US Army achieving the rank as Second Lieutenant during the Korean War before earning a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Houston, a Masters Degree at the University of Texas in Austin, TX and attending Law School at the University of Houston. In Bill’s 34 year career with Texaco in the sales and marketing division he lived in El Paso, Midland, Houston and Denver before retiring in Houston in 1985. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Zada, his son Brian and wife Belinda, grandson Greg and wife Melanie, Sister Nancy Townes and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel, father Dr. James Makins, second mother Bess, and brothers Jim and Bob. A Memorial Service will be held at Whites Chapel Methodist Church in Southlake, TX on Monday, September 22nd at10:30am with internment immediately following.
