

Bette A. Garrison, aged 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Memphis, TN. Bette was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 24, 1924. She was the daughter of William Niederman and Bertha Burris Niederman. She graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1942 and she graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio with a B.A in Sociology in 1989. Bette married Harry A. Garrison, March 8, 1945 and had four children: Michael R. Garrison (deceased), Anthony L. Garrison of Covington, KY, Christina M. Moran of Collierville, TN and son John J. Garrison of Chicago, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and her eldest son Michael and is survived by her husband, Harry and her children Anthony, Christina, and John. During her life, Bette was a beloved mother and wife, excellent cook and seamstress, an active participant and leader in her church, and an avid student and teacher of the Bible. Bette was beautiful, kind, gentle, vivacious, and devoted to her family and the church. In 1990 she embarked on the trip of her lifetime to Israel and Greece which forever touched her soul. Bette actively participated in her children’s lives into adulthood and loved to travel to the cities where her children lived. Her fondest travels were accompanying her husband Harry to the cities hosting the yearly national reunions of the WWII, First Marine Division at Guadalcanal. Her most fervent desire as she left this earth was to be reunited with her mother, Bertha, whom she lost at age 8, and her Grandmother, Anna. Visitation will begin today, Thursday, April 1, at 9 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10 a.m., both at Collierville Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
