

Charles Lester Mougey died March 29, 2014 peacefully at his home. He was born August 23, 1915 at Sardis, MS to Charles Noah and Esther Garner Mougey. He graduated from Sardis High School where he was active in sports and was a popular figure in high school. He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister, Esther M. Reichelderfer, a brother, Porter W. Mougey and his wife, Mary C. Mougey. He was veteran of the Merchant Marines having served in WWII. He retired from Sears Mail Order as a manager of the 4th floor and worked years more as a Real Estate Agent. He gave up a chance to play ball with a feeder team to the Philidelphia Phillies to marry his high school sweetheart. He was a hunter and a very skilled fisherman. He loved gardening and could make anything grow. Many people in Collierville are enjoying the fruits of his trees, flowers and shrubs. He was a member of Collierville Church of Christ. He leaves behind one daughter, Susan Mougey Davis (King) and 3 grandaughters, Anne D. Dacus, Lisa D. Bishop (Paul) and Amber D. Murphy (Chris). He also leaves 7 great-grandchildren, Andrew, David and Lauren Dacus, Taylor and Alex Bishop and Ashlyn and Zachary Murphy. A special Thanks to the wonderful staff of Crossroads Hospice who took such wonderful care of him. Memorials should be sent to Collierville Church of Christ, Germantown Church of Christ or Rossville, TN Animal Rescue. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2nd , 10am – Noon at Collierville Funeral Home with gravesides following in Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, TN
