

Cynthia Patterson, a manicurist and lifelong Shelby County resident, died Saturday February 18, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis after a long illness. She was 56. Visitation is today, Monday, from 5-7 p.m. at Collierville Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Incarnation with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville. Ms. Patterson, a 1973 graduate of Bishop Byrne High, spent much of her career as a manicurist at the McWherter Senior Center. Ms. Patterson loved to work outside with her husband, Roger Oelke, converting their Collierville back yard into a lovely garden. She also knitted scarves and made rosaries for the Jubilee Schools of the Catholic Diocese. In recent years, she became a doting grandmother to her granddaughter, Makenzie. Besides her husband, Roger, Ms. Patterson leaves her daughter, Melissa Webb (Randy) of Cordova; a brother, Clay Bailey (Martha) of Cordova; a sister, Leigh Zipperer (Mark) of Germantown; a granddaughter, Makenzie Webb; a nephew, Kyle Bailey; and two nieces, Jana Radford and Regina Zipperer. Memorials may be sent to the Collierville Animal Shelter or the charity of the donor’s choice. Collierville Funeral Home has charge.
