Dr. Gena Grace Casey, 55, of Piperton, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025. A devoted pharmacist, a dedicated servant of Christ, and the reliable "rock" of her family, Gena Grace leaves behind a legacy of service, leadership, and unwavering faith.
Born on June 12, 1970, Gena Grace was a lifelong learner and high achiever. She was a graduate of the Collierville High School Class of 1988 and attended Memphis State University before pursuing her calling in healthcare. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy in 1995.
For Gena Grace, pharmacy was more than a career; it was a passion and a ministry. She served her community as a pharmacist at Fred’s Pharmacy for 23 years (1995–2018), and later at the Hardeman County Community Health Center, Arlington Apothecary, and Guardian Pharmacy. She was a pillar of the professional community, holding membership in the Tennessee Pharmacists Association for 30 years and serving as its President from 2008 to 2009. She also served as Chair of the Tennessee Society of Chain Pharmacists (2002–2003).
While her professional accolades were numerous, Gena Grace’s heart belonged to her faith and her family. A faithful member of Lifeline Baptist Church, she was a true worker for the Lord who spent her free time ensuring the church was ready to receive young people. She poured her energy into children's ministry, tirelessly organizing Vacation Bible School, the Harvest Festival, and Breakfast with Santa. She loved the work behind the scenes, taking great joy in gathering materials and assembling goodie bags and candy to ensure every child felt special.
To her family, Gena Grace was the person they could always count on. She shared a special bond with her nephew, Jack, notably introducing him to Star Trek: The Next Generation, a shared interest that created lasting memories. It is fitting to remember her with a sentiment from the character Data: "To know that one's life comes to an end is usually a source of fear. But to me, it gives life definition." Gena Grace’s life was defined by her generosity, her faith, and her steadfast love for her family.
She is survived by her mother, Pat Casey; her brother, John "Allen" Casey II; and her nephew, John "Jack" Casey III and his girlfriend Karington Boyd.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Casey I; her sister, Rebecca Jeanette Casey; and her grandparents, Edgar Eugene and Vera Grace Swain, and Earl Allen and Jeanette McGill Casey, with whom she is now reunited.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2nd, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Collierville Funeral Home (Winchester and Bailey Station). A funeral service will take place at the same location on Saturday, January 3rd, at 3:00 PM, with a graveside service to follow.
