Elizabeth (Betty) Pinckney Green, 96 of Collierville, TN, passed away on November 1, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She married the late Edward Hardy Green in 1946 and they lived in the Memphis/Collierville TN area for most of their married life. She is survived by her three children, Edward Hardy Green, Jr. (Patricia Gayle) of Fort Worth, Texas, Sarah Shepherd (Glenn) of Bartlett TN, and Susan Wilson of Collierville, TN. She leaves 4 grandchildren, David (Sara) Shepherd of Lexington, TN, Amy Batson of Cordova, TN, Edward H. Green III ( Ashley) of Denver, Colorado and Christopher (Jennifer) Wilson of Cordova, TN.
She also leaves 7 great grandchildren, Alexander, (17), Walker (8), Summit (6), Hardy (5) , Maryn (3) , Stone (2), and Ellis (1) and a brother, Alfred Pinckney(Julianna) of Charleston,South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed. Betty was a Southern Belle that was born and raised in Charleston, SC. She met her sweet husband,Ed, in Key West ,FL where both served in the Navy during World War II. She was the epitome of southern grace and charm. She enjoyed living in her condo development where she was treated like a Queen since she was the oldest in the neighborhood. Her family is very thankful for all of the love, help, care and concern for their Mom over the years.
Betty was a member of Collierville United Methodist Church and served on many committees. She was a member of the United Methodist Women for over 60 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and she served as chaplain for over 20 years. She is the longest serving chaplain in the DAR. She enjoyed being a member of the Contemporary Club and Friends of the Library.
Betty was a World War II Veteran and enjoyed going to the lunches and meetings with the World War II Forever Young Veterans group.
She was an avid football fan and was a member of the local Clemson Tiger Club. She was Clemson’s #1 football fan. The family always said that once Ed got to heaven in 2011, the Clemson Tigers have been hard to beat.
Betty was immensely proud of her family and leaves nothing behind but beautiful memories.
Betty and Ed are now jitterbugging together in heaven.
The visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Collierville United Methodist Church, 454 West Poplar Ave., Collierville TN 38017 from 12:30 - 2 PM with the service starting at 2 PM.

Interment will be at West TN Veteran's Cemetery at a future date.
