Born on August 12, 1952, in Humboldt, TN, Taylor was the son of Fred Taylor Foster Jr. and Polly Foster, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and spent more than 35 years working at Memphis Pump & Manufacturing Co. before his retirement.
Taylor married the love of his life, Carolyn Ann Russell (Foster), on August 2, 1975, celebrating 50 years of marriage just days before his passing. Together, they raised two children: Kevin (Katie), the eldest, and Matt (Ashley), the youngest. Taylor was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Jonah (son of Kevin and Katie), and Finley, Marlow, and Larkin (daughters of Matt and Ashley).
Taylor is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; their two sons, Kevin (Katie), and Matt (Ashley); his sister, Ann; and his four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Taylor was a faithful member of Collierville United Methodist Church, where he volunteered in various ministries, including ushering, assisting with the Sunday School’s annual pancake breakfast, and supporting the senior adult ministry. In his free time, Taylor enjoyed trout fishing, cheering for the UT Vols, and, in his younger years, playing guitar. More recently, he found peace in listening to music while relaxing in his garden.
Known for his sense of humor and frugality, Taylor was a jovial spirit who loved to make his friends laugh. He was deeply devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, and considered his church family just as important as his own. Taylor’s kind heart and playful nature will be missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 10th, at 3:00 PM at the Sanctuary on the Square in Collierville, TN, with a reception to follow at Collierville United Methodist Church on Poplar Avenue. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM at the Sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Collierville United Methodist Church General Fund.
