Gene ‘Derek’ Pruett, aka “Corn Picker” was born in Memphis, TN on December 23, 1969, to Gene A. Pruett and Faye E. Pruett. Derek passed away at his home on August 11, 2023, after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Derek was a graduate of Craigmont High School and the Owner of Pruett Tree & Landscaping in Memphis, TN.
Derek was preceded in death by his father, Gene A. Pruett, his maternal grandparents, Fred & Ruby Bishop and his paternal grandparents, James & Blanche Pruett.
He is survived by his son, Chase A. Pruett, his mother, Faye E. Pruett and his two brothers, Michael A. Pruett and Perry F. Pruett, nephew, Wes A. Pruett, numerous cousins and Aunt, Joyce E. Jacoby-Duncan.
Derek enjoyed hunting and fishing and any time he had spare time from his business, he was either in a deer stand or out on the lake fishing. Derek was beloved by all that knew him, and he was always there to help any of his family and friends, never expecting anything in return.
A celebration of life for Derek will be held in Memphis, TN at a later date.
