Gerald Aubrey "Jack" Alexander, a proud native of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born and raised in Memphis, embodying the warmth and friendliness that defined his personality. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Milton Earl and Minnie Kathleen Alexander; his siblings, Earl, Gene, Carolyn, and "Bucky"; and his beloved daughter, Jackie Lautar.
A veteran of the United States Army, Jack served from 1953 to 1955, achieving the rank of corporal. His dedication and discipline from his military service carried over into his long and successful career in the auto parts industry. Jack spent his entire professional life in this field, serving as the president of Ozburn-Abston Company before founding his own business, Alexander Auto Parts. He also held the position of president of Automotive Wholesalers of Tennessee, demonstrating his leadership and influence within the industry.
Jack’s warm personality and welcoming spirit were evident to everyone he met. Known for never meeting a stranger, he always greeted everyone with a wave and a smile. His kindness and generosity touched many lives and left a lasting legacy in his community and industry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sherry Qualls Alexander; his sons, Gerald "Jerry" Alexander of Memphis and J. Alec Alexander of Milton, Georgia; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Jack's legacy is one of integrity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 5:30 pm at 750 Stoneville Cove, Collierville, TN 38017. A dinner will be provided by Leonard's BBQ, Jack's favorite. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and honoring a man who truly made a difference.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to debra of America, honoring Jack’s generous spirit. This organization provides funding for research and support for victims of epidermolysis bullosa, a disease that has affected the Alexander family.
