August 25, 1946 – September 18, 2023
James (“Jim”) was born and raised in Covington, TN. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In his early years, Jim served in the Tennessee National Guard, and worked most of life in the brewing industry with Schlitz, Stroh’s and eventually retiring from Coors Brewing Company having served as Director of Purchasing.
Jim was an avid, some of his buddies would say fanatical, Tennessee Volunteer sports fan. You would frequently find him proudly wearing orange in support of his favorite team!
Jim was a faithful and devoted member of the First Methodist Church Collierville. Additionally, he was an active member of the Collierville Masonic Lodge where he also attained his 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite and he actively served as a Shriner. During his time with the Shriners, they honored him by dedicating one of their children’s transport vans in his name.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Slover, his mother Elsie Irene (Hogan) Slover, and his sister Diane Baskin.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Virginia Ann (McQuirter) Slover, his son Chris Slover and Daughter-in-Law Missy Slover from Franklin, TN, his grandsons Grant Slover and Preston Slover from Franklin, TN, his nephew Patrick Bishop from Kingsport, TN, and his Brother-in-Law Bob Baskin from Memphis, TN.
