Jimmie Parks Crossnoe was born in Trenton, TN on January 21, 1947. He attended Peabody High School, class of 1965. He continued his education at Memphis State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1971. While in college he became a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. He also toured with the Memphis State Jazz Band. After graduating from college, he was the Band Director at Ridgeway High School. He continued to incorporate his passion for music after leaving the education field by serving as the President of the Band Alumni Association at Memphis State for multiple terms. Without fail, he would march in the annual alumni homecoming game. He worked alongside other Band Alumni to create the Bandmasters Marching Competition. He loved having the honor of serving as judge for the bands at the Collierville Christmas Parade for many years. One of his greatest joys was supporting his daughters during their music education at Collierville High School. Every Friday night, you could count on seeing him pulling the infamous Dragon Wagon to and from the football field as well as many Saturday competitions. He served multiple terms as the Band Booster President for Collierville High School. Jimmie was a long-time member of Collierville United Methodist Church where he was a past member of the Chancel Choir, ran the sound board for many years, served as the Sunday School Superintendent, as well as various other committees. His most recent and possibly his favorite was serving on the Safety Team.
A salesman at heart Jimmie spent his time traveling the United States and Canada working for C.E. Niehoff Company (automotive aftermarket) which was later acquired by Dana Corporation from which he retired. If you needed directions or a story about an area of the United States, Jimmie was the one to ask.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, James and Vivian Crossnoe of Trenton TN. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his daughters: Amanda Leigh and Leslie Ann (Blevins); and grandson Hunter Rushton.
Visitation will be held at Collierville United Methodist Church Poplar Sanctuary from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday January 15th followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m.
