He is survived by his wife, Nancy Person Pitts, of 48 years; his daughter, Leigh Murley Phillips (John) of Collierville; and granddaughter Sydney Kate Murley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb Roy Pitts and Eloise Shaver of Parkin, AR.
Jim was born in Memphis, and raised in Parkin AR. He went to Parkin High School, attended Columbia Military School before returning to graduate from Parkin High School. Jim then attended Arkansas State University.
Jim retired from Schering Plough Inc. after 38 years. He began his career in customer service, and worked his way into sales, ending his career as Vice President of National Accounts.
To many he was known as Jim, to some Jimbo, to others Pittsy, but to his girls, he was known as “Poppy”. Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved his family with his every breath! He was a man of Faith and member of the Methodist Church. Jim was an avid golfer, loved sports, rodeo, a huge fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the biggest fan as he loved to watch his granddaughter dance!
Services will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 at Collierville Funeral Home. A Visitation for Family and Friends will be held from 12:00pm – 2:00pm with the service beginning at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital.
