Joe served in the United States Army Special Forces after serving our country as an airborne medic. He then graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and worked as a certified critical care nurse for 32 years. His ability to make others laugh will forever live in the memory of all who knew him. Joe found joy in traveling the country while photographing nature. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and especially spending time with his dog, Ollie.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Samuel Stratton, his mother, Marjorie Karen Shaul, and his sister Marjorie Williams. He is survived by his brother, Darrel Stratton, his sister, Donna Farris, his two daughters, Amy Stratton Yanes, and Shelby Leigh Stratton, as well as his only grandson, Louis Callahan Yanes.
A memorial service will be held with family at a later date.
