Kenneth and I lived next door to each other in Frayser from 1955 to 1959, and were classmates during those years. We played many, many ballgames with each other, and against each other. I always admire how good he was, and strived to reach his level.  Although I was a good athlete, I never did reach his level, for his skills were always above mine. Had I known that he was back in Memphis (heard that he moved out of state), I would have called him on my return trips there.  So many memories that we could have shared are now gone.

I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT KEN'S PASSING ON 6-7-15. I CONTACTED MY BROTHER FRANK,WHO WAS A FRIEND OF KEN'S DURING HIS TIME WITH THE MEMPHIS POLICE DEPARTMENT,60'S AND 70'S.FRANK AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY HE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY, BUT WE WILL KEEP HIM IN OUR PRAYERS.GOD BLESS FAMILY AND RELATIVES DURING THEIR TIME OF LOSS.

Jo Anne and family you have my most sincere condolences. Ken was a great person and officer.  He was my first partner when I came out of the MPD academy.  He taught me so much and was kind doing it.  I have always thought of Ken as a friend.  He will be missed but Heaven must have needed a kind officer as an example for others.  R.I.P. my good friend.

I worked with "Sarge" in the old jail at 128 Adams.
I was new and he was the old hand at this sort of thing. 
Many a time I would get impatient, mad at some prisoner, mad at the CO's, mad at the system. And every time there was this hand on my shoulder, along with a comment of "Take a deep breath and think a second." Worked every time.
 
When I was about to get married, he was the first I talked with. I never forgot his words: Your first priority will be and should always be, your family first. Never do anything to cause embarrassment or hurt to them. Above all, never take her feelings for granted and never be afraid to tell her I love you!" He was right.

"Sarge" was the same on or off the job. he cared what you were doing and always asked how your family was doing. He was always just an all round great guy who loved being a policeman, a friend, but mostly a husband and Dad.
I don't have the right words at the moment. I just want his family to know I had the greatest respect, admiration and affection for this man. I will miss him and the world will also miss his good nature.
This was a man's man, and a policeman's policeman.
Should he have been afraid to leave this world? Not a guy like him. He knew where he was going.
Well done "Sarge!"

Ken just went "on ahead" of us.  We will see him when we get there.  Until then, We will miss him on this earth, but our hearts are comforted knowing where he is awaiting our arrival.

I will always have fond memories of my Uncle Butch.  He was a wonderfully, caring man.  RIP sweet man

He was a brother to my husband, Don Hollie. I will always remember Ken coming to the hospital every week for over a year sitting & visiting with Don and giving him the best ever shaves! You two brothers are now together for eternity. May God give the family a peace that passes understanding.
