Larry is seen here doing what he liked best; walking the tarmac around airplanes, with that smell of jet fuel in the air, and his always smiling face.

Larry was a mentor, a friend, a source of wisdom and will continue to be an inspiration for most of us.
His kindness, ethics and great heart touched many lives and helped many in need.
At work, Larry was that great workmate that you could count on for those difficult conversations in which technical aspects,  logistics and thinking outside of the box was the need of the day.
As a friend, Larry was always ready to give you the proverbial “shirt off his back” and be ready to help at a moments notice.
His love for animals and rescue was also his trademark. Larry could be seen at different usual spots feeding geese and feral kittens, doing TNR and taking orphan animals to the vet when needed.
A great soul that will be missed by everyone who truly knew him.

In remembrance of Larry Stanley's first 30 years (out of a total of 41) as a resident of Memphis: Barbara Stanley's book, Cat Tails of Rescue (2007), with their photo on its back cover, Barbara's dedication to Larry before its preface, and its front cover.  Barbara Stanley passed away in May of 2011 after 41 years of marriage to Larry.

In Loving Memory of Larry Stanley

It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Larry Stanley on August 13, 2025. Larry was not only a remarkable man but a guiding light in my life. Through him, I see the great work of God in my life. Through the kindness and connection of Ms. Margaret, I had the privilege of meeting Larry, a meeting that would profoundly shape my path.

Larry’s support and encouragement were pivotal in helping me pursue my higher education. Today, as I hold my Master’s Degree, lead Mikoko Development Foundation, and work on establishing Afrika Sisi Nyumbani Ltd, I carry forward the seeds he planted in my life. Though I wish I had the chance to personally share my successes with him, I know that his impact was immeasurable.

Larry’s generosity, wisdom, and belief in others will forever be remembered. His legacy lives on through all those he touched and the lives he helped transform. I am eternally grateful to Ms. Margaret for bringing Larry into my life and to Larry himself for his unwavering support and kindness. As my family had no capacity to take me to higher education, and before I met Mr. Larry, I discontinued my studies due to failing to pay college fees in 2013.

Rest in peace, Larry. Your life was a gift, and your influence continues to grow in the work and dreams you helped inspire.

My dearest Larry, you were my best friend these past ten years. I learned so much from you about love, hope, compassion and loyalty. You shared your knowledge and time with so many people. Your “can do” spirit was refreshing and unexpected. You were the most perfect human I have ever known and I’m sure God is so proud of the love and kindness you shared with people and animals alike. Larry and I worked together through Fedex and Pratt UTX . He loved working around Airplanes and always shared that he loved the smell of jet fuel. He was efficient and a kind man. 
I know he also loved animals and he and I shared memories of rescueing animals. I sent a birthday card and it was returned which is how I found out he had passed.
