Linda Jo Bartow, devoted mother and beloved “Gammy,” went home to our Lord on May 16, 2026. Born March 5, 1951, Linda lived a life full of joy, love, faith, and a special ability to find meaning in everyday moments. She grew up in Pasadena, TX and made friends who lasted her lifetime, a testament of how all who knew her loved her. Linda moved her family to Hampshire, TN in the 1980s and quickly fell in love with country living.
Linda had a special gift for finding happiness in life’s simplest pleasures—rain tapping on a tin roof, Thursday night pizza and movie rentals with her daughters, evening chats on a front porch swing, sandy toes at the beach, cheering proudly from the sidelines as her grandson played sports, and watching with pride as her granddaughter danced. She believed deeply that children’s laughter was one of life’s greatest blessings—and she made sure there was plenty of it wherever she was.
She was the heart behind unforgettable Fourth of July celebrations, where fireworks, food, music, and joy filled the air. Linda also never missed a chance to dance. Whether it was in the living room, at a family gathering, or anywhere music happened to be playing, Linda was ready to join in. Depending on the decade, those tunes could come from her jukebox, a boombox, a record player or the car radio. Whatever the source, Linda could easily turn ordinary days into dance parties and remind everyone that life is meant to be enjoyed.
In recent years, Linda’s faith became an even deeper focus of her life. She dedicated her time and energy to serving others, including organizing a clothing closet to help those in need. It was just one more way she lived out her belief in caring for others with dignity, generosity, and love.
Linda often said her calling in life was to be a mother, and she lived that calling with unwavering dedication, compassion, and strength. She had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, cared for, and, when needed, gently set straight. Her kindness was constant, her loyalty unmatched, and her love unmistakable.
Though we will deeply miss her, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her parents, Greg and Betty Bartow—no doubt already catching up and keeping a loving watch over all of us. Linda now serves as a guardian angel to her daughters, Joely, Shanna, and Jacki; her grandchildren, Rafael and Elena; her sons-in-law, Ito and Rikel; her siblings, Pam and Dan; and her nieces and nephews, Mellora, Jamie, Daniel, and Kara—who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love and laughter.
She requested that there be no formal service, and that her loved ones celebrate her by being happy and caring for each other. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda’s name to your local animal rescue or a children’s organization. If giving isn’t possible, Linda would be the first to remind you that giving your time to a cause or offering a kind word to someone matters just as much.
