

Margaret Ford Evans, 92, of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 2nd, 2025. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Born in Bradford, Tennessee, on January 26th, 1933, she was the daughter of Robert Onon Ford and Brooksie Oliver Ford, both of whom predeceased her. Margaret graduated from Peabody High School in Trenton, Tennessee. In 1954 she graduated from Murray State University where she majored in mathematics and pursued a teaching certificate. Her desire to excel drove her to complete her Master’s Degree from Memphis State University in 1963. Margaret spent an amazing 31 years teaching mathematics in the Memphis City School System. Even after retiring from the Memphis City Schools, Margaret’s passion for teaching turned into a part-time career teaching Chemistry at Hutchison for six additional years. Throughout her life, and especially upon retirement, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, golfing, reading, playing the piano, trips to the beach, and treasured time spent with family and friends. Margaret married the love of her life, Billy Evans, in December of 1953 and they enjoyed 71 loving years together. Margaret lived a rich and fulfilling life, characterized by her deep love for family, her warm spirit, and her unwavering kindness. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly to support the success of those around her and always found joy and happiness in the simple pleasures of everyday life. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and an endearing friend who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Avanelle McCaughan, and a brother Robert Ford. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Billy Evans. She leaves behind two sons, Robert Evans (Jenny) and Mike Evans (Karen). Six grandchildren; Heather Stamps (Matt), Matthew Evans (Savannah), Melissa Evans, Joey Evans, Holly Evans, and Emily Evans and two beautiful great grandchildren; Paisley, and Addie Evans. Margaret will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and grace will continue to inspire all who knew her. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Collierville Christian Church, the Memphis Union Mission, or a charity of your choice.
