Marilyn Ann Morton, a woman known for her infectious laughter and devotion to her family, passed away peacefully at the age of 93.
Born on January 10, 1932, in Searcy, Arkansas, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Wayne and Opal Bloodworth. After graduating high school, she began working at the historic Rialto Movie Theatre, where she met the love of her life, Gene Morton. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing.
Marilyn was a pillar of her community and faith. She was a dedicated member of the Collierville Christian Church, where her beautiful voice enriched the choir. She also found deep fellowship and meaning as a heavily involved member of her cherished Bible study group.
A devoted fan through and through, Marilyn passionately cheered for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Beyond her community involvement, she was a dedicated traveler and loved exploring new places. Above all else, she will be remembered for the warmth she brought to every gathering, often expressed through her famed cooking for family and friends. She was especially dedicated to her three beloved grandchildren, taking immense pride in their lives.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene Morton; her parents, Wayne and Opal Bloodworth; and her brothers, Darryl and Charles.
She is survived by her three children: Beverly (Johnny) of Memphis, TN; Karen Kruse of Collierville, TN; and Mike (Sandy) of Collierville, TN. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jenny Morton, Garland Kruse Wherry (Kyle) and Abby Morton, who will deeply miss their grandmother.
The family invites friends and family to join them for a Celebration Brunch at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, December 16, at the Collierville Christian Church in Collierville, TN.
Visitation will follow the brunch at 1:00 PM at the church, with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will take place at Magnolia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to two organizations close to Marilyn's heart: Collierville Christian Church or the American Heart Association.
