

Marion Lawrence Bryson, 88, died June 20th at Poplar Springs Nursing Center in Meridian, MS. He was born July 4, 1924 in Somerville, TN to the late Samuel Forrest and Ruby Dunn Bryson. Mr. Bryson was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He was employed for 32 years in Somerville with the U. S. Post Office. After retiring he and his wife ran a hog operation in Moscow for many years. Later on he raised goats on his farm which was one of his biggest enjoyments. Mr. Bryson was widely known as the “Goat Man” and was a frequent buyer at sale barns. He loved driving his truck and hauling farm animals for his family and friends. He was a very giving man, doing what he could to help his friends. He moved to Meridian, MS 5 years ago to live with his daughter, Beverly. He loved drinking coffee early in the morning with his friends and talking about the news and farming. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his children, Beverly Jane Bryson of Meridian, MS; William Lawrence Bryson (Pamela) of Stewartsville, MO and Marian Bryson Lacy (Don) of Springfield, MO. 3 grandsons, Michael Brandon Parrott (Leanne) of Sarasota, FL; Robert Matheson Bryson (Jessica) of Phoenix, AZ and Gilbert Lawrence Bryson of Grandville, MI., 4 Great grandchildren, Sophia Jane Bryson, William Matheson Bryson, Nathanial Brandon Parrott and Samuel Lee Parrott. And one brother, Sam Bryson. He was preceded in death by Clara Jane Bryson and 3 brothers, Calvin, Preston (Jack) and Raymond (Rip) Bryson. The family will receive friends, Monday, June 24th, from 1pm to 2:30pm at Collierville Funeral Home in Collierville, TN. Graveside services will be Monday, June 24th, at 3pm at Macon Cemetery in Macon, TN in Fayette County. Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice.
