A little late coming for all my cousins who have become strangers, I have just learned of Mary Alice's passing.  I enjoyed your collage of family photos which touched my heart.  I am sending you all my warmest felt condolences on the passing of your mother.  Ginny and Whit both suffered from altzheimer's disease as well.  Such a sad, sad way to watch one's vital parents fade away.  Mary Alice and Billy verifiably have left a beautiful family in this world to be thankful for.  Sending best wishes your way. Mother has just come to eat lunch with me and thoroughly enjoyed all of the pictures posted of Aunt Mary Alice, her parents, children, grandchildren, and even some great grands.  The photos brought back such happy memories and we are so thankful for that.  I, like Shelley, have the fond memories of Sugarbabe and Uncle Billy. I spent many summers following Suzanne and Donna around, playing with Pam and Davis, shelling peas and butterbeans, and just enjoying the simple pleasures of life with family.  I read a book to my daughter, Catherine, titled Ninety Minutes in Heaven.  We believe, that upon leaving this earth, there is a very special greeting committee of family, friends and loved ones reaching out with open arms and excitement as we climb the stairway to Heaven.  That committee shows you around and takes you to Jesus.  That is a simple explanation which makes us feel a little better about the process Catherine is encountering right now. I can see Uncle Billy, Mama (Sweet), VC, Warren, Lynn, and many others jumping up and down with Aunt Mary Alice with such joy.  I know what a strong, loving, and smart woman Aunt Mary Alice was.  Her strength and memories will live on through all of you.  Much love to you all.

I apologize for posting this so late, but we were at a doctor's appointment during the time of visitation and the funeral.  She dictated this to me during the time of the celebration of life for Aunt Mary Alice.

Oh how I loved seeing all these pictures and reminiscing and remembering my grandmother, "Sugarbabe." Papa K called her "Sugarbabe"and it just always seemed like the right name for her, so I called her that too. She was an incredible cook and my Christmas'growing up are full of memories of visiting Tennessee and enjoying her amazing cooking. She always seemed to know how to do so many things...canning, cooking, sewing, gardening, etc. She would always help me write her recipes and learn cooking "tricks."  She was strong and determined and definitely left a legacy of her spirit in MANY of our family members, myself included. I hope we will all use our determination as a positive strength. I  know she and Papa K are together again happy and healthy and he greeted her with his big smile and a "hey Babe."
