Born on December 17, 1927 in the Bootheel of Missouri, Patsy grew up during the Great Depression and knew the meaning of hardship and having to do without. Throughout her life Patsy demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience, dedication, and versatility.
In 1946 Patsy married the love of her life, her Johnnie. Johnnie Lafferty was in the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles” in World War II. He remained in the military following the war and was later stationed again in Germany. Patsy joined her husband in Germany along with their two young daughters, Barbara and Debbie.
After returning to the U. S., Patsy worked and raised a family. She and her family enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing, boating, horseback riding, and taking road trips to all parts of the USA. Patsy and Johnnie also ventured to some exotic locations outside the country including Spain, Jamaica, Morocco, Austria, Mexico, France and Puerto Rico.
Patsy was active in her community as a proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and she enjoyed league bowling. Outside of work and maintaining a household, Patsy was no stranger to the kitchen. Her authentic German rouladen was one of her most popular dishes. In addition, her family and trusted friends are convinced that Patsy perfected a method of baking a pineapple upside down cake that is unrivaled by any other in this world. If you were fortunate enough to have tasted one, you know.
Patsy remained active even after her 97th birthday and still enjoyed shopping and going to the hair salon. Her departure leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, but we find comfort in knowing that she is with her Savior and has been reunited with her Johnnie. We celebrate her life and we are all richer by having known her.
Patsy is survived by her daughters Barbara Parker (Paul) and Debbie Rubisoff (Chuck), three grandchildren (Charlie Rubisoff, Haley Doude and John Rubisoff) and four great grandchildren (Sam Doude, Katy Doude, Sasha Rubisoff and Francesca Rubisoff) . She leaves behind her sister Betty Jo Dodd and nephews Stan Dodd (Karen) and Steve Dodd (Julie).
A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Collierville Funeral Home located at 3863 Bailey Station Road, Collierville, Tennessee. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. A celebration of life service will begin at 3:00 pm.
