May 7, 1952 – April 9, 2026
Terry Joseph Callaway, 73, of Germantown, Tennessee, joined our heavenly Father on April 9, 2026, at 10:30 PM at Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville. After a courageous battle with severe bilateral pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Terry passed away surrounded by the love of his children, brother, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.
Terry was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on May 7, 1952, to Joseph and Alma Higginbotham Callaway. The youngest of three children, Terry was the "baby" brother to Gilbert and Cynthia. Known affectionately as “Pappoo”, a nickname given to him by his wife, Jan, and their first grandchild, Coleman, Terry’s life was defined by a legendary love story. He met his middle school sweetheart, Jan, at the age of twelve; they began dating at thirteen and shared 54 years of marriage, raising a family that grew to include three children, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A 1970 graduate of Central High School, Terry’s early career included time with the railroad before he found his stride in the automotive industry with the Dobbs organization in the early 1980s. His success in sales and finance eventually led him to a new chapter as the Co-founder and CFO of Telerhythmics, LLC, alongside Jan. Together, they set the gold standard for ambulatory cardiac monitoring, earning the trust and respect of the medical community nationwide through their unwavering commitment to patient care.
Terry lived life with an energetic outdoor spirit. He was an avid fisherman and small-game hunter, but he was perhaps best known for his quick wit and infectious humor. He had a rare gift for connecting with anyone he met. Jan absolutely adored and admired him, and together they raised their children, Stephanie and Jason, to lead with integrity, loyalty, and compassion. As the spiritual pillar of his family, Terry ensured his loved ones knew the love of Jesus. He was a faithful member of Hope Presbyterian Church since 1995.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alma Callaway, and his beloved wife, Jan Callaway. He is survived by his brother, Gilbert Callaway (Becky) and sister, Cynthia Scott; children, Stephanie Callaway, Jason Callaway (Kimberly) Terrie Chevaillier (Charles); grandchildren, Coleman Callaway, Pryce Hundley, Connor Callaway, Preslie Hundley, Pierce Hundley, Carson Callaway, Forest Chevaillier, Brooks Chevaillier and Hunter Chevaillier; great-grandchildren, John Ryan Callaway, Indy Callaway, Jack Chevaillier, Case Chevaillier, Trip Chevaillier and Lyle Chevaillier; nephews, Mark Scott, John Scott, Benjamin Scott, Kip Roberts, Charlie Smith, and Jordan Callaway; and niece, Danielle Martensen.
