A proud veteran, Bill served in the United States Army before joining his father in the family business. He carried a strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility throughout his life.
Bill married the love of his life, Jacqueline (“Jackie”) McBride, and together they raised three children: Amy ( Ned, deceased), Bill (Jody), and Mike. After Jackie’s passing, he was fortunate to find love again with Molly Lorbach (deceased), who had also lost her spouse. Through this marriage, Bill welcomed Molly’s two sons, Rory Lorbach (Jackie) and Brendan Lorbach, and took great joy in watching them grow into adulthood.
He was preceded in death by his wives; his parents; his son-in-law, Ned Boyer; and his siblings, Mary Sue, Chuck, Jack, and Mike.
Bill is survived by his children; his ten grandchildren, Liza Boyer Easley (Edward), Doug Boyer (Holly), Patrick Boyer (Sara), Bridget Boyer Crenshaw (Clay), Scott Tatay (Ivey), Sara Tatay Camp (Nick), Shannon Tatay, Mitchell Lorbach, Mahri Lorbach, and Ashley Lorbach; and his ten great-grandchildren, Jack, Miller, and Henry Easley; Hayes, William, and Ben Boyer; McBride, Margot, and Francie Boyer; and Pratt Crenshaw, whose games and recitals brought him immense joy in recent years. He is also survived by his siblings Margaret, Kathy, Steve, and Greg.
When he wasn’t spending time with family and friends, Bill could often be found on the golf course—whether at Christiana Creek in Indiana, the Country Club of Rochester in New York, or most recently Windyke in Memphis—still scoring holes-in-one well into his eighties. He was a devoted fan of Notre Dame Fighting Irish athletics and a faithful member of his church community, most recently at Incarnation Catholic Church in Collierville.
Bill had a gift for making a home wherever he lived, including South Bend, Indiana; Rochester, New York; and Collierville, Tennessee.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, Tennessee 38138, in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org).
