Mary K. Small (Behrens), age 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at St. Mary’s Center, Cherry Hill, NJ.
She was a long time resident of Collingswood, NJ. Mary was born on May 16, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA, to parents, Floyd and Mary Behrens. She graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1949. She continued her education, graduating from West Chester State Teachers College (University) in 1953 with a degree in Music Education. Her first teaching position was in Aberdeen, MD where she met her husband, Harold, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Mary enjoyed teaching cello and playing her cello in various trios in her spare time.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Floyd D. Behrens, her mother, Mary Behrens, her husband Harold B. Small, Sr. and her daughter, Susan Costello (Small).
Mary is survived by her son, Harold Small (Karen), of Surprise, AZ, her son-in-law, James Costello, of Clayton, NJ, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A private family viewing will be held on February 22, 2023, followed by interment at Colestown Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
