Our beloved matriarch “Nanny” was born on March 11, 1943, in Ipswich, Suffolk County, United Kingdom, to Edgar and Ethel (Tennant) Doole. In 1964, she married Jerry Sullivan in Ipswich, and they had three sons, James, Steven, and Richard. After they divorced, Ann married Charles “Chuck” Gordon in 1977 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. A lifelong US military spouse, Nanny enjoyed living all over the US and the UK. She also treasured her family, especially her five grandchildren. Nothing made Nanny happier than her pets, hosting family celebrations, a trip to the Double Eagle Casino in Cripple Creek, CO, watching movies and tv shows with zombies, or eating at her three favorite restaurants: Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, and Capt. D’s, which had the best fish and chips this side of the Atlantic.
Nanny was predeceased by her parents and numerous beloved pets, including Greta, Penny, and Joyce. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, SMSgt (ret) Charles Gordon; her brother Keith (Valerie); her sons James, Steven (Jessica) Sullivan, and Richard (Tiffany) Sullivan; daughter Elizabeth Charlton, and grandchildren Shayne, Kade, Kaidence, Skyler, and Zoë.
Per Nanny’s wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held in the future. Finally, the family would like to thank her medical team at Evans Army Community Hospital and UC Health, Colorado Hospice & Palliative Care, Care Patrol, At Home Health Care, Brookdale Vista Grande, and Swan-Law Funeral Directors.
