

COLORADO SPRINGS. Sister Ann Frances Hoff, O.S.F., 95, a Sister of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration for over 70 years, died peacefully at Mount Saint Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs on September 17, 2015.
Margaret Eleanora Hoff was born March 23, 1920 in Wichita, KS to Frank C. Hoff and Anna Marie Springob. Sister was preceded in death by her parents and brother; Francis, and sisters, Alberta Hoff and Cornelia Busch. She has one living brother, Donald. Nieces include, Janice Simmons, Karen Saunders and Ann Hoff.
Sister Ann Frances received the Religious habit on August 12, 1942 and pronounced her perpetual vows on August 12, 1949. She graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1941 and from Loretto Heights College with a BS Degree in Nursing in 1946. In 1952 she completed her Masters in Nursing Administration from St. Louis University with a post Masters in Nursing from the University of California in 1962. In 1965 she was named Colorado Nurse of the year by the Colorado Nursing Association.
Sister was an exemplary leader serving on the Corporate and Provincial Boards of the Sisters of St. Francis of Colorado Springs from 1968-1980, and again from 1986-1994, attending the 1972 General Chapter. She served as Juniorate Directress at St. Anthony’s in Denver, and as superior in many of our convents and the Motherhouse Coordinator from 1980 to 1984.
Sister served on many of our hospital boards over the years, including, St. Anthony Healthcare Corporation in Denver, Colorado, St. Elizabeth Gardens, in Denver, St. Francis Gardens, in Albuquerque, NM, and the University of Albuquerque, as well as St Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO and the Colorado State Board of Nursing.
At St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Sister Ann Francis was the Administrator from 1974-1980. From 1997-1999, Sister ministered to families as a volunteer in the Surgery Waiting Area.
Sister used her talents for the communities she served as a member of Catholic Hospital Association, Colorado League of Nursing, American College of Hospital Administrators, and was active in the Colorado Springs Hospital Coordinating Council, Citizens Goal Committee, and Governor appointed member of Colorado Council of Emergency Medical Services.
With her wisdom and years of nursing and administrative knowledge she kept up with changes and always wanted to be current on world and Church news, religious life updates, Community news and our various ministries. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards.
The rosary will be prayed for Sister Ann Frances in the Mount St. Francis Nursing Center chapel at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22, with a Vespers and Wake Service held in Canticle Chapel at Mount Saint Francis at 5:15 pm. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Canticle Chapel followed by burial in the Mount Saint Francis Cemetery.
