Anna was born in Istanbul, Turkey to Yani and Mariya (Gasparakis) Kucukoglu. She married Dale Hansen in Vicenza, Italy in March of 1973. They built a beautiful life together, moving to Colorado Springs in 1981 for their final military assignment after spending the first eight years of their marriage stationed in Greece and Italy with the US Army. Their last post at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs introduced them to the beauty of Colorado, a place they quickly grew to love and call home.
Anna is survived by her loving daughter, Stephanie (Hansen) Bailey, and her husband Jarrett, as well as her sister, Theodora Archer. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces, Ioanna (Tom) Raughton and Angie (Mik) Martino, and their children, Isabella and Maximus, who brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Dale Hansen; her parents, Yani and Mariya (Gasparakis) Kucukoglu; her sister, Calliope Lomi; and her brother, Niko Kucukoglu.
Throughout her life, Anna faithfully served God, her family, and her community. She was a member of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church and previously a member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Pueblo, as well as other parishes in the Denver Diocese.
Anna loved to knit and generously made countless baby blankets for friends and loved ones, as well as helmet liners for US soldiers serving in Afghanistan. She was also a talented cross-stitcher, enjoyed cooking, and especially loved baking delicious desserts to share with family and friends.
In addition to her creative talents, Anna was a meticulous bookkeeper for her husband’s woodworking business and worked as a retail clerk at Quality Gifts and Imports before retiring.
Anna will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
