Annie Jewel was all these and more Annie Jewel, passed away on Thursday, morning April 4, with her family around her. She was born in Marion, North Carolina (mountains). Her family lived in Gastonia, North Carolina and surrounding area growing up.
Annie Jewel, was the second oldest child of five siblings to George and Myrtle England. Responsibilities came to Annie Jewel at a young age taking on ‘motherly duties ‘as she assisted with her family and siblings. Annie Jewel nick name from her father was "Susie".
Annie Jewel met the love of her life Rupert Dimp" Clemmer and married in York, South Carolina on September 20, 1947. They moved from North Carolina to Southern California, for work and to start to their new married life and family.
Annie worked at the International Paper, in California, she was involved with the Printers Union, and the Democratic Party.
Her family had begun in California, with raising her two children Scott and Shawna. Her enjoyment in life was family life and family and friends her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Scott Clemmer (Vicki) and Shawna Alvarez (Norman), grandchildren, Gregory, John, Kimberly, Felisa, great grandchildren, and nephew, nieces and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rupert Clemmer, and her parents, George and Myrtle England, Roy England, Paul England, Donald England, Brothers, and Lundy Godfrey, sister.
Her interests were vast; some specifics would be her reading her Bible, Church participation, gardening and flowers, also her interest in kitchen curtains. She enjoyed her baseball playing solitaire and doing search word puzzles and watching her videos especially her Shirley Temple collection, and her Southern Gospel Music. These brought joy and smiles to her face on many occasions.
Annie Jewel enjoyed traveling from short distances to long trips abroad to Europe. She would also travel to the east coast to visit family, friends and other points of interest. She was a close friend to many with her friendships lasting a lifetime.
She was a doting mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her smile was contagious, her laugh to be remembered, and she was stubborn to a fault. She will be remembered for her living her life with determination and resilience. Our mother was an independent spirit, a voice of reason with a strong personality. My father would say “It was her red hair and Irish temper" that would come out sometimes.
Our mother was a loving and giving individual, with Christian values, faith and grace. Annie Jewel would always help others throughout her life with whatever needed to be done. Annie Jewel was involved in church activities during her life. She was a member of Pikes Peak Baptist Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
We love and miss her and she is with us every day watching over us.
