Barbara J Martin

Barbara J. Martin, a cherished member of the Colorado Springs community, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on August 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Greeley, Colorado, Barbara spent her early years between Colorado and California. She was one of nine children born to Barbara and John Chavez.

Barbara was baptized in 1963 and devoted 18 years to regular pioneering. A longtime member of the Foothill’s Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, she was known for her unwavering faith and dedication. Her love for people and her strong beliefs left a lasting impact on everyone around her.

Barbara loved to sew, gardening, finding a good bargain and spending time with friends and family. She wanted to travel the world and did as much as possible. She cherished her visits with her family in California, spending time at the ocean, and especially her time in New York City for its vibrant culture and experiences.

Despite her battle with cancer, she maintained a positive outlook, continuing to pioneer and offer comfort to those around her. Her enduring spirit was evident as she lived life "one day at a time," always reassuring her family of her love through her actions and words from the moon and back. Even in her illness, she was a source of comfort to doctors, nurses, and fellow patients, her faith shining brightly in challenging times.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; daughter Cherise and son-in-law Luis Alvarez; son Ryan and daughter-in-law Nicole Martin; sister Gloria Stucker; sister Lorraine Chavez; and brother David Chavez, as well as lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
