Barbara Grace Biscup Ross was born December 4, 1931 at Muskogee Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma where her grandfather, Dr. M.K. Thompson, was Chief of Staff. She was raised in Tulsa, OK by parents Walter Francis Biscup and Elizabeth Thompson Biscup. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO and attended University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. After leaving Missouri she lived in Louisiana for a short time before settling in Colorado Springs where she raised two children, Elizabeth and Carl.
She was very interested in Native America culture, as her Cherokee lineage can be traced back to 1700’s. She delighted in and appreciated the arts and crafts of the Southwest. Her travels extended overseas where she discovered Italy, which stole her heart.
She shared her passion for fun and food with friends and family, whether over a game of bridge or a bowl of ice cream. She always said she was a skinny until they invented Haagen-Dazs.
She is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Ross Kaufhold, son-in-law Lowell Kaufhold, granddaughter Kaeli Kaufhold, Lakewood, CO and a son Carl Ross, daughter-in-law Dolly Ross, grandchildren Gina Ross, Michelle Ross and Alex Ross, Manhattan Beach, CA.
Barbara felt that life is a collection of experiences and we must enjoy it – one bite at a time.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2014, Swan-Law Funeral Director’s with burial following at Fairview Cemetery.
Donations may be made in memory of Barbara to Silver Key Senior Services.
