We are here to announce the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grammy, and great grammy--- Barbara (Joslyn) Shepard. Barbara was born February 27, 1931, in Colorado Springs to Gordon and Gladys (Frisch) Joslyn. Barbara was often called the better half in her marriage to Omer (Bud) Shepard. They were married for 66 years before Bud passed. Barbara was 15 and Bud was 16 when they drove to Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1946 to get married. Bud preceded her in death in 2012 in Scottsdale, Az. Barbara continued living in their casita until being moved to skilled living care in early 2024. She passed quite peacefully in the early evening of December 11, 2024, in Scottsdale, Az.
Mom is survived by her two sons, Bob (Carolyn) Shepard, and Rick (Judy) Shepard. Barbara was Grammy to all of the grands and greats. The six grandkids are Lori (Chris) Howey; Ty (Lori) Shepard; Jeff (Jenna) Shepard; Amy (J.D.) Crouse, Brandon Shepard and Sarah Shepard.
Barbara also has nine great grandchildren.
Barbara attended school at Lowell Elementary, South Junior High, and Colorado Springs High School.
Barbara accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She attended many different Bible Studies in Colorado Springs and in Scottsdale. Barbara was a member of the Red Hat Society and liked to do needlepoint, china painting and stained glass.
Barbara was an excellent example of the perfect stay at home Mom. As Bud became more involved in the home building business Barbara helped out more and more with picking the colors of 'spec' homes and helping with the decorating of model homes. Barbara was always interested in the latest designs, colors, and decor of new homes.
In her later years Grammy was all about family visits, French poodles, and visiting with her life long friends on the phone.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 27, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Woodmen Valley Chapel, with Jim Tomberlin and Don Needham officiating. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers you can make a contribution to Hospice of the Valley; 16117 N. 76th St., Scottsdale, Az., 85260. Woodmen Valley Rd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919. Woodmen Valley has been so gracious to provide the service.
