

Bess Wright Davis, 86, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 10, 2014, at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Colorado Springs, CO, surrounded in love by her family. Prior to moving to Colorado Springs in 2003, Mrs. Davis lived most recently in Aiken, SC and Bel Air, MD.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 16 at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 17 at Vista Grande Baptist Church, 5680 Stetson Hills Blvd, Colorado Springs. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg, KY on Wednesday, January 22.
Mrs. Davis was born one of 13 children on March 5, 1927 in the small coal-mining town of Stearns, KY where her father worked in the mines and ran Wright’s Dairy. She was valedictorian of her high school class and managed the dairy’s ice cream business before attending Cumberland College. During class registration at Cumberland, she met Jack Davis and the two were married on August 19, 1950. They raised two children and enjoyed 52 years of marriage while Mr. Davis completed a career with Western Electric.
Mrs. Davis was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved her husband, children and extended family with a passion. A gentle and sweet woman, she invested heavily in the lives of her children and grandchildren and was always ready with the right words of words of encouragement at just the right time. Mrs. Davis was also dedicated to our Lord and Savior along with her church family. Seeking to model her life after Christ, she set a wonderful example of love and service. Additionally, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts and golf.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Jeff Carson of Colorado Springs and three grandchildren; Tyler Carson of Webster, NY, Katie Burghardt and her husband Jake of Stillwater, OK, and Steven Carson and his fiancée Becky Fischietto of Littleton, CO. Three older sisters, a younger brother and sister and many nieces and nephews also survive Mrs. Davis.
Her husband, Jack Davis and her son, Alan Davis, preceded Mrs. Davis in death.
